The artist

Ashley

Martinez,

Known as “Swans2Saturn”, is a visual artist based in North Alabama. Rooted in femininity and guided by a romantic view of life, her portraits capture the quiet magic that exists, the kind of beauty that is easy to miss if you aren’t looking closely enough.

Inspired by all things whimsy and tender, Ashley works across various mediums and techniques, each piece reflecting that art is not just something you see, but something you feel. Her work celebrates femininity, elegance, and the dreamlike qualities of life lived with intention and wonder.

As an educator, her teaching philosophy is close to her heart: that the process of creating is just as meaningful as the finished piece. It is in the brainstorming, the layering, the questioning of what to add or strengthen, that a painting becomes more than an image- it becomes an emotion.

Like her artist name, Swans2Saturn, her work stands quietly apart- graceful on the surface, with layers of details and depth waiting to be discovered.

“Painting from the heart.”

My story

A childhood spent colouring outside the lines

I have always drawn. As a child I filled the margins of every notebook with faces — friends, strangers, characters I invented and never quite let go of. Somewhere along the way, drawing stopped being a hobby and became the way I make sense of things.

Swans2Saturn began as a small, private universe: a place where the people I love could become a little more luminous, a little more storybook. The name is a wish — to take something gentle and earthbound and send it somewhere wondrous. From swans to Saturn.

Today I paint for collectors, authors, couples and families who want to keep a feeling, not just a likeness. Every commission is a collaboration, and every finished piece is a little piece of someone’s story, told in colour.

The creative journey

A few of the chapters that shaped the way I work today.
2016

First filled sketchbook

Graphite portraits, drawn obsessively — learning to chase a likeness, then learning to let it breathe.
2019

Into colour

Watercolour and oil opened a softer, dreamier register. Skin became light; backgrounds became gardens.
2024

A world of my own

Digital and mixed-media work let the whimsy run free — bubbles, sparkle, stained glass and petals.
What inspires me

Romance in the ordinary

How I work

A few quiet promises

Made by hand, for you

Every piece is original and one-of-a-kind. No prints masquerading as paintings, no shortcuts.

A true collaboration

Your story leads. I’ll guide the craft, but the feeling we’re chasing is always yours.

Unhurried & honest

Good work takes time. I keep a small commission list so each piece gets the care it deserves.
Let’s make something
Your story, painted
If any of this feels like your kind of beautiful, I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
